About the role
We are looking for a creative Video Content Producer to join our production team working in SmartCo Media - the division that handles the small business and startup publications and content agency. This person will be a seasoned video expert capable of producing various formats end-to-end, including hands-on post-production. Most importantly it’s someone who’s obsessed with creating video content that truly stands out, pushing the boundaries creatively and single-minded about engagement and audience impact.
In this role, you will balance producing duties with hands-on editing responsibilities, flexing between the two as project demands dictate. Your projects will span all sides of the business, from producing bespoke video projects for clients of our agency, as well as working with the editorial teams to produce news and education-driven video pieces.
Since production schedules always vary, you will need to be flexible as your producing and editing tasks will naturally blend throughout the week. You will be a vital, client-facing anchor for our team, reporting directly to the Head of Production to create incredible video content for our clients' platforms and across our own brand channels.
Some examples of projects you will tackle
- High-energy event videos
- Studio-based Video podcasts
- Story-led case studies and authentic customer testimonials with seamless brand integration
- Live-streamed events such as webinars, AGMs, conferences
- Studio/green screen video
- News packages
- Product explainers
As a producer, we are looking for someone with the experience to confidently manage the entire pre-production and production lifecycle. Your absolute superpower needs to be working with people. And as an editor, we need an experienced, self-sufficient storyteller. When you transition into the editing chair, we expect you to act as a true post-producer who can look at the raw footage and carve out a compelling narrative on your own.
You will bring proven experience in the following responsibilities:
- Developing and presenting creative video concepts, scripts and interview talking points, shotlists and storyboards
- Interviewing talent on set: You must know how to instantly make subjects feel comfortable, and pull the absolute best answers out of them
- Lead project kick-offs and owning all pre-production logistics, from running briefing calls with talent and formulating shoot schedules to creating callsheets, securing permits and managing talent releases
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Production and our videography team to ensure every shoot hits the client brief while maintaining our high internal creative standards
- Map out post-production timelines and provide a crucial quality-assurance eye on all videos
- Take full ownership of the editing workflow, including narrative cut-downs, colour grading, accurate audio mixing and blending music tracks seamlessly
- Maintain impeccably clean project files and organised timelines to ensure your edits can be seamlessly picked up by another team member at a moment's notice
- Manage client feedback and expectations with emotional intelligence, possessing the tact to collaborate openly while holding your ground to find a realistic middle ground
- Travel nationally and potentially internationally to manage shoots on location
The technical skills and platforms you need to know like the back of your hand:
- Bring over 5 years of hands-on experience in Premiere Pro to intuitively manage the entire editing lifecycle
- Apply graphics, internal effects and keyframing within Premiere Pro and smoothly integrate custom animations provided by our design team
- Navigate After Effects at a practical level with the ability to confidently use templates and pull clean green screen keys
- Project management platforms such as Asana or similar.
This is a full-time hybrid role with three days a week in the office, ideally based in our Barangaroo office in Sydney.
Inclusion statement
While the role is advertised as full-time, we wish to be flexible for the right candidate and believe that part-timers should always be given a go. We strongly encourage diverse candidates to apply, including people from multicultural backgrounds, LGBTQI+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders, people with disability, and over 45 years of age. We’re looking for the best possible talent to join us at Private Media, regardless of age, gender, religion, race, sexuality, education or physicality.
