The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment's Water Resources Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992 (the Act) which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection and management of the Territory's water resource.

We are a motivated, experienced and diverse team of water scientists, planners, technicians, regulators and policy makers who inform the sustainable management of the Territory's water.

As the Director Water Assessment, you provide strategic and scientific leadership and guidance to the division and the water assessment branch, and scientific advice and assessment of water resources for the sustainable utilisation and management of the Northern Territory's water resources.

Your core responsibilities include managing the scientific assessment, investigation, monitoring and modelling of the Territory's water resources, and contributing to the scientific underpinnings to water plans, extraction licences and scientific program and projects.

To be successful, you require a bachelor's degree in engineering, or Applied / Natural Sciences, with demonstrated experience in the leadership of a multi-disciplinary team of water scientists and specialists. Extensive knowledge of, and experience in water resource management and contemporary tools and methodologies, including industry standards and guidelines for surface water, ground water, and water quality assessment is essential.
