This is a unique opportunity to join a high-profile Australian Government agency at a pivotal time, contributing to nationally significant policy initiatives that support Australia's future economic prosperity, industrial capability and investment priorities.
Working within a fast-paced and influential policy environment, you will engage with senior stakeholders across government and industry to help shape major investment decisions and deliver outcomes in the national interest.
This position is initially offered as a 3-month labour hire contract, with a strong possibility of a 9-month extension, and offers an attractive hourly rate for the successful candidate.
Your new role
As Director (EL2), you will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering complex policy and investment initiatives, providing strategic advice to senior executives and government decision-makers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of high-quality ministerial, executive and Cabinet submissions.
- Managing complex projects and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Supporting negotiations with external stakeholders and contributing to the development of commercial agreements and funding arrangements.
- Providing strategic advice on economic, financial and public policy issues.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships across Commonwealth agencies, state governments and industry stakeholders.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams and driving delivery against government priorities.
- Managing risk, governance and stakeholder expectations in a complex policy setting.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience working within the Australian Public Service at the EL2, acting EL2 or senior Executive Level equivalent.
- Strong policy development and implementation experience within a Commonwealth Government environment.
- Experience preparing high-level advice, briefs and submissions for senior decision-makers.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex economic, financial or policy issues.
- Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
Qualifications in economics, finance, public policy, law, commerce or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
