Principal Technical Specialist

Lime Recruitment is currently working with a Queensland Government client to recruit an experienced Principal Technical Specialist. In this role, you will work within the Cyber Security Program, taking a technical lead role in the deployment, upgrade, and management of Queensland Health's firewall infrastructure to support secure health service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end deployment, upgrades, and configuration of Check Point firewalls while supporting Palo Alto solutions and F5 (LTM/GTM/WAF).
• Integrate firewall solutions with Cisco routing and switching to ensure seamless connectivity and high availability.
• Orchestrate firewall rule bases and policy governance using AlgoSec (NSPM) to ensure continuous compliance.
• Monitor firewall performance and health using SolarWinds, providing advanced third-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Develop technical artefacts, including solution designs, change plans, implementation procedures, and configuration documentation.

About You

• Extensive hands-on technical expertise in Check Point firewalls (build, upgrades, SmartConsole, policy optimisation) and Palo Alto enterprise deployments.
• Strong technical background in Cisco routing and switching, network security, and gateway technologies (SWG/proxies).
• Proven experience using rulebase management tools like AlgoSec and network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds.
• Solid understanding of ITIL Service Management processes (ServiceNow incident, change, and problem management) and cyber security frameworks.
• Desirable: Open 'C' class driver's licence; experience in complex, large-scale enterprise environments.
