IBM Mainframe Automation and Monitoring SME

Kestrel Eight has partnered with a global enterprise technology vendor to deliver a large-scale mainframe tooling modernisation program for a major Australian Government client. We are looking for a senior mainframe automation and monitoring specialist to lead one stream of this program.

The opportunity

You will lead the migration of the client’s automation and network monitoring tooling to a modern enterprise platform. The stream runs end to end: requirements validation, solution design, migration execution, test input and training delivery to the client’s operations team.

This is lead-level work on a program with genuine scale and a long runway. It will suit a practitioner who has taken a mainframe toolset through a real conversion before and can carry both the technical design and the client conversation.

What you will do

  • Validate technical requirements for the automation and monitoring workstream with the client and the delivery team.
  • Design and build the migration and deployment approach for each in-scope tool.
  • Execute the migration and deployment.
  • Support test planning and execution.
  • Train client operations staff on the new tooling.

What you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience with CA/Broadcom NetView, Ops/MVS, Netmaster and SYSVIEW, or equivalent enterprise mainframe automation and monitoring tools.
  • Senior or lead-level z/OS systems programming or automation background.
  • A track record leading a tool migration or platform conversion, not just steady-state administration.
  • Current NV1 (or above) security clearance and Australian citizenship.

Well Regarded

  • Prior experience migrating between major mainframe tooling vendors.
  • CICS and MQ performance monitoring exposure.
