We are currently seeking an experienced CIAM Tech Lead for an 18-month contract with a Federal Government organisation.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role suited to a strong software engineer who has extensive experience delivering Consumer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions. You’ll be responsible for leading technical implementation, solving complex engineering problems, maintaining high-quality code and providing technical guidance to other engineers.

As the CIAM Tech Lead, you will

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of complex CIAM solutions
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable and maintainable code
  • Solve complex technical and implementation challenges
  • Design solutions for advanced CIAM requirements
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Contribute to estimation, technical refinement and delivery planning
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers
  • Work with technical stakeholders and other teams to integrate CIAM solutions with existing systems
  • Explore emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality

Essential experience includes

  • Advanced object-oriented programming skills with extensive JavaScript and TypeScript experience
  • Advanced unit and integration testing experience, including frameworks such as Jest
  • Extensive experience implementing complex CIAM solutions
  • Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC)
  • Experience customising and integrating CIAM platforms such as Auth0, Okta, ForgeRock, Ping or similar
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar
  • Proven experience mentoring engineers and contributing to a collaborative engineering environment

Desirable

  • Experience configuring and customising SaaS-based CIAM services
  • Experience building and integrating microservices in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure or GCP
