The Opportunity
An established and highly regarded commercial and architectural joinery business is expanding its Sydney operations and is looking for an experienced
Site Supervisor / Working Supervisor to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Site Supervisor, Leading Hand, Foreman or Senior Cabinetmaker/Joiner who enjoys being involved in the work rather than sitting behind a desk.
You will take responsibility for supervising a small site team of up to two other tradespeople, while remaining actively involved on the tools yourself. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on schedule and in accordance with project requirements.
The role will see you working across a variety of high-quality commercial and architectural joinery projects throughout Sydney, providing plenty of variety and the opportunity to work on premium projects.
The Role
As Site Supervisor, you will act as the key person on site, coordinating a small team while personally assisting with installation and finishing works.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supervising and coordinating a small team of up to 2 tradespeople
- Working hands-on alongside your team and remaining actively involved on the tools
- Installing and assembling commercial and architectural joinery
- Reading and interpreting shop drawings, plans and specifications
- Coordinating daily site activities and ensuring work is completed efficiently
- Liaising with builders, site managers, subcontractors and other trades
- Ensuring joinery is installed accurately and to a high-quality standard
- Measuring, setting out and checking work prior to installation
- Identifying and resolving issues on site
- Coordinating deliveries, materials and equipment as required
- Managing site access, sequencing and installation requirements
- Ensuring projects remain on schedule
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment
- Conducting quality checks and rectification works where required
- Providing feedback to the factory/project team regarding site requirements
- Taking ownership of the project from installation through to completion

To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Strong experience within commercial joinery, architectural joinery or shopfitting
- A solid trade background in cabinetmaking, joinery, carpentry or a related discipline
- Proven experience installing commercial joinery on site
- The ability to confidently read and interpret shop drawings
- Strong understanding of site installation processes
- Experience coordinating or supervising other tradespeople
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your projects
- A practical, problem-solving approach
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude
- The ability to work comfortably on the tools while supervising others

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who has progressed beyond being purely a tradesperson but still wants to work on the tools.
You might be a highly experienced Cabinetmaker or Joiner who has naturally stepped into a Leading Hand role, or an experienced Working Supervisor looking for a position where you can lead a small team without moving completely away from the trade.
