Legal Counsel | Consumer & Commercial 3-6 PQE

About the role

Our client is a listed international FMCG business seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their Sydney legal team. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to a commercial or disputes lawyer with 3+ years' experience who enjoys a genuine mix of regulatory, compliance, corporate, and commercial work.

You will support the business across a broad range of matters, including:

• Provide pragmatic commercial legal advice and support across the business on a wide range of day-to-day operational and strategic matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, with particular focus on procurement, supply, distribution, manufacturing and service agreements.
• Advise on regulatory compliance issues, including product regulation, labelling, advertising and marketing standards, and industry-specific requirements.
• Manage and support litigation, disputes and regulatory investigations, working closely with external counsel where required.
• Support marketing, sales and brand teams with legal clearance of advertising, promotions, packaging and consumer-facing materials.
• Identify, assess and help mitigate legal and compliance risks across the business, contributing to internal policies, training and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (procurement, commercial, operations, finance and senior leadership) to deliver commercially sound, risk-aware outcomes.

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years’ PQE in a law firm and/or in-house environment
• Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the wider legal and commercial teams
• Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, commercial approach
