Senior Legal Counsel – Real Estate & Development (Renewable Energy)

We are partnering with a fast-growing infrastructure company who develop large scale renewable energy projects globally.

Our client is seeking an experienced real estate and development lawyer to join their legal team in a senior in-house role. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded property and projects lawyer to support the company’s rapid expansion of infrastructure assets.

The Role

You will play a pivotal role in enabling the company’s real estate, development, and infrastructure strategy. You will partner closely with the construction, commercial, and executive teams to deliver pragmatic, solutions-oriented legal support in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice on all aspects of real estate and development for large scale infrastructure projects, including site identification, acquisition, leasing, and disposition.
  • Lead the negotiation and structuring of complex property transactions, including freehold acquisitions, long-term leases, ground leases, options, joint venture and development agreements, and strategic land partnerships.
  • Advise on planning, zoning, development approvals, environmental and sustainability requirements, and other regulatory and permitting issues relevant to large-scale data centre and infrastructure developments.
  • Support project delivery through the full development lifecycle, including due diligence, title and planning reviews, interface agreements, easements, access arrangements, and utility and infrastructure connections.
  • Advise on real estate aspects of corporate transactions, financings, and expansion projects, including property due diligence, security documentation, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Structure and negotiate strategic real estate and development partnerships with landowners, developers, contractors, and infrastructure providers.
  • Develop scalable contracting frameworks, playbooks, and processes to support rapid site acquisition and project delivery while maintaining strong governance and risk management.
  • Deliver clear, commercial, and actionable legal advice to non-legal stakeholders in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

About You

  • 8 + years’ post-qualification experience, gained in a top-tier law firm in a property or infrastructure environment.
  • Significant expertise in complex real estate transactions, property development, and construction/projects work.
  • Strong knowledge of planning and development processes, commercial leasing, acquisition and disposal, and major project contracting, with the ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional requirements.
  • Commercially minded, solutions-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives, development teams, and commercial leaders.
