Senior Legal Counsel

Our client, a prominent Queensland-based company managing significant data assets, is experiencing business growth and has an opportunity reporting directly to the General Counsel and Company Secretary. This senior position within a legal team of eight will provide expert guidance on commercial and corporate matters and support strategic initiatives focused on continuous improvement and future commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Legal Advice: Provide practical legal counsel on commercial and contractual matters, privacy and data management, and internal governance practices.
• Risk Management: Identify and manage legal risks arising from legal developments, regulatory focus areas, changes in law, and judicial decisions.
• Legal Agreements: Develop, review, and negotiate legal agreements across diverse areas to meet the company's legal and regulatory risk management requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders and provide input on legislative and process changes, and general legal and industry matters relevant to the company's operations.
• Collaboration: Work with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security teams to assist with organisational compliance and risk management, and implement legislative changes.
• New Projects and Commercialisation: Collaborate with the General Counsel on new projects and initiatives.

The successful candidate will adopt a forward-thinking approach to anticipate challenges and seize opportunities, contributing to the legal function's adaptability and future readiness. We seek an experienced Senior Lawyer who has worked closely with operational teams and influenced stakeholders at all levels, fostering a culture of trust and accountability.

We are keen to brief Senior-level Corporate and Commercial Lawyers with 9+ years of PAE from in-house or commercial law firm environments.
