Business Development Manager – Energy, Oceania East

Wood is recruiting a Business Development Manager to lead the growth and development of our energy end market across the East Coast of Australia, PNG and New Zealand.

This is a permanent role within the regional business development team and will be based in the Brisbane or Melbourne office.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development - Oceania, you will drive an aligned and structured approach to business development with responsibility to grow and convert Wood’s pipeline of opportunities across our 3 strategic Business Units (BU) – Consulting, Projects & Operations. A key focus of the role is identifying new prospects, managing client engagements and key project pursuits, to secure new work within the energy end market (oil and gas, carbon capture and new energy and renewables). You will lead collaborate ways of working within the sales team and across the technical and commercial functions to help position and win work across the project and asset lifecycle.

This is a highly visible role and includes travel for engagement with clients, suppliers, and industry bodies and events across Oceania East.

The key objectives for this role are

• Growth & development of client relationships, both new and existing, which align with Wood’s corporate and regional strategic plans
• Set sales targets, oversee forecasting and prospect management
• Collaborating with the operational teams, commercial and contractual functions to leverage Wood’s capabilities and bring innovative and smart solutions in pursuit of new work opportunities
• Working closely with the regional management to assess risks and opportunities in new business growth
• Working closely with the Proposal team to prepare compelling win plans and bid submissions
• Role modelling Wood’s vision, values, and behaviours

• Suitably qualified, ideally you will be a Business Development professional currently in a similar role within the Engineering / Operations & Maintenance sectors in Eastern Australia.
• Exposure to other industries would also be advantageous.
• You are a relationship builder with proven network and track record of securing a blend of Engineering & Asset Management business.
• Commercially astute and technology savvy, you will have a passion for Energy sector to help our clients to be more efficient, sustainable, and optimised ensuring sustainable business success
