Senior Accounts & Administration Coordinator
Mojo Recruit
$90,000 – $95,000 + Superannuation
Full-Time | Springwood, Brisbane Southside
Established Construction & Concrete Pumping Business
Be the person who keeps the engine room running.
Specialised Concrete Pumping (SCP) is looking for an experienced, organised and commercially switched-on Senior Accounts & Administration Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day accounts and administration function within our busy operation.
This isn't a role where you'll spend all day doing one small part of the accounts function.
You'll be involved across the business — accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, project invoicing, banking, reconciliations, employee administration, plant records and compliance — working directly with management, operations, our project team and external accounting professionals.
If you're the kind of person who likes knowing that the invoices are right, payroll is right, suppliers are paid, customers are followed up, registrations haven't expired and nothing important has fallen through the cracks, you'll probably enjoy this role.
About SCP
Specialised Concrete Pumping is an established concrete pumping business working across commercial and infrastructure projects throughout South East Queensland.
We're an operational business. We have people on sites, concrete pumps and vehicles on the road, projects underway and customers and suppliers who need things dealt with quickly.
That means we're looking for someone who is comfortable in a practical, fast-moving construction environment and enjoys being an important part of the team.
What you'll be responsible for
You'll take day-to-day ownership of a broad accounts and administration function, including:
- Accounts payable, supplier invoices, purchase orders and payment batches
- Accounts receivable, customer invoicing and debtor follow-up
- Project claims and Schedule of Rates invoicing
- Weekly payroll processing and timesheets
- Superannuation, leave and employee entitlement administration
- BERT, CIP, QLeave and WorkCover administration/reporting
- Bank, supplier and credit-card reconciliations
- Xero accounting and payroll administration
- Employee records and general HR administration
- Plant, vehicle, fuel card, toll, PPE, tool and asset registers
- Vehicle and equipment registration renewals
- Project and operational documentation
- Safety and compliance administration
- Working with SCP's external bookkeeper/accountant
- Identifying discrepancies and fixing problems before they become bigger problems
- Improving administrative processes and systems as the business grows.
The underlying SCP position description places particular emphasis on accuracy and deadlines, including ≥98% invoice/payment accuracy, on-time payroll and supplier payment preparation, debtor follow-up, statutory reporting and maintaining plant and compliance registers.
Who we're looking for
We're less concerned about finding someone with an impressive corporate title and more interested in finding someone who knows their stuff and gets things done.
You'll ideally have solid experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general bookkeeping, together with strong Xero and Excel skills.
Experience in construction, civil, concrete pumping, equipment hire, transport, trades or another operational business would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who:
Takes ownership. You don't wait for someone else to discover that something hasn't been done.
Is accurate. Payroll, supplier payments and customer invoices need to be right.
Can investigate problems. If an invoice, timesheet or account doesn't make sense, you'll work out why.
Can handle competing priorities. Construction doesn't always operate according to a perfectly organised diary.
Communicates well. You'll deal with management, employees, suppliers, customers, accountants and site personnel.
Likes improving things. If there's a better way to manage a process, we'd like you to tell us.
What you'll get
This is an opportunity to become a trusted and important member of the SCP team, rather than simply another person sitting in an accounts department.
You'll have a broad role, direct access to management and the opportunity to improve how the administrative side of the business operates.
Salary: $90,000–$95,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.
Location: Springwood, Brisbane Southside
Employment: Full-time
If you're an experienced accounts and administration professional who enjoys taking responsibility and wants a role where you can genuinely make a difference to how a business operates, we'd like to hear from you.
