More about the Mid-Weight Graphic & Multimedia Designer role at Medical Symbiosis

Medical Symbiosis is an Australian health company and a family business. One of the family is a practising doctor, a perioperative physician and anaesthetist, who created the products.

We've got three consumer brands. Steady Freddy covers men's sexual health in Australia and the US. SuperFastDiet focuses on women's weight loss and intermittent fasting, with a strong community behind it. Nutraviva, our recently acquired collagen and supplements brand, has a strong growth agenda across brand and all channels.

All three brands are growing at once, which is a good problem and the reason for this role. We're looking for a mid-weight graphic designer who enjoys making things and getting them out the door, and who likes a busy day on the tools.

THE WORK

This is a hands-on role with a high output. You'll spend most of your time designing, adapting and preparing artwork, with paid social ads making up the largest share of it. Some days give you room to try something new. Others are about getting the next batch of assets out. Both matter.

The Work Includes

  • Paid social ads across all three brands, including variations and updates to existing creative.
  • Email design for campaigns and automated emails in Klaviyo.
  • Web assets and landing page designs for our Shopify stores, including work on the Nutraviva rebuild.
  • Print and packaging, from layouts through to artwork ready for production.
  • Simple motion work, like animating a static, adding subtle movement to an ad, or cutting existing video down for different placements.
  • Decks, one-pagers and other collateral for business customers and trade partners.

You'll help keep the design standard up and the work consistent within each brand. We work in a regulated category, so you'll also need to pay attention to the TGA advertising rules that apply in Australia.

There's a contract designer covering some static ads and an offshore video team, with support available when volume spikes. You won't be managing them.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You'll probably have around 3 to 5 years of graphic design experience and a portfolio that shows you can handle a mix of digital and print work. We'd like to see how you work across formats, including the everyday pieces that don't always get the front page of a portfolio.

  • Strong typography, layout and colour skills, with an eye for the details even when there's a lot to get through.
  • Confidence using Figma, our main design tool. We also use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign for print and packaging, and Canva for quick turnarounds.
  • Practical print knowledge, including bleed, colour profiles, dielines and getting files away to a printer without drama.
  • The ability to organise your workload, work from briefs in ClickUp and flag anything that's missing before it holds things up.
  • An interest in how your designs perform, and a willingness to make changes based on feedback.
  • Some comfort with motion. After Effects, Premiere, Canva or Figma is fine. You won't be shooting or editing long-form video, we have people for that, but putting light movement on a static should be within reach.
  • Openness to using modern AI tools as part of the workflow.

Experience in health or another regulated category would be useful, but isn't essential.

WORKING HERE

We'd like someone who's positive to work with, takes feedback well and gets on with things. If a brief needs clearing up, you'll ask. If you spot something that needs fixing, you'll raise it. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room.

There's a fair bit happening across the business, so it helps if you enjoy pace and variety. You'll be producing a lot of design each week, revisions and resizes included, and you'll see most of it go live quickly.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

You'll work across three brands, two markets and just about every format, from a 9:16 ad to a printed carton, so the work stays varied. Most of what you make ships within days and you'll see how it performs. We're small enough that your work matters and that you'll know the people you're making it for.

Our office is in a funky coworking space in Maroubra, Sydney, with great amenities and the beach nearby.
