Senior Hydrogeologist
Australasian Groundwater and Environmental (AGE) Consultants
- Grow from Technical Consultant to People and Business Leader
- Mentors who are Genuinely Invested in You
- Tackle High Profile, Career Shaping Projects
- Backed by AGE's National Technical Bench of Specialists
You've delivered the projects. You've demonstrated leadership - with or without the title. Is it time to take the reins of something bigger?
This is a Senior Hydrogeologist (or above) role with something most roles don't come with - a genuine leadership pathway, working alongside the people who have actually done it before you, and will be working with you to deliver.
Whether you are a Senior Consultant ready to take the next step in your career with the opportunity to develop your leadership capability; or an established Team Lead or Principal, don't let the job ad title define the role. We're looking for someone with the capability or the ambition to lead, the credibility to make an impact, and the vision to help shape and grow the region.
We have been building our North Queensland footprint for nearly 10 years and are recognised and respected as a leader in groundwater in the region. Our market position and growth in the local team have driven serious momentum in this period - so much so that the growth has now paved the way for a Team Leader to join the journey. Due to internal career progression, both the current and previous Regional Managers remain at AGE, and will stay closely involved, investing in you as you continue to develop the business and the team, serving as collaborators with you in the business and project space, and as mentors throughout your transition and beyond.
The growth trajectory is clear - Team Leader, with a genuine pathway to Regional Manager as you demonstrate your capability
You'll keep doing the work you're good at – technical hydrogeology, project delivery, team direction, client relationships and technical credibility. You'll also have the support of an enthusiastic and dedicated local team as well as full access to AGE's entire national technical bench of numerical modellers, geochemists, data scientists, GIS specialists, conceptualisation specialists and field experts. Through our Communities of Practice, we have a structured focus on innovation, knowledge sharing, technical advancement and best practice.
Just as importantly, AGE is a place where people feel safe being themselves. We are proud of the inclusive culture our people have built, where different perspectives are respected, questions are welcomed and no one has to perform a version of themselves to fit in. Our employee-led CARE Collective (Culture, Access, Respect and Equity) helps us keep that culture active and visible, not just declared.
You'll also have:-
- A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
- A performance-based incentive scheme across company, region and individual results
- Dedicated time built into your role for professional development, supported by a personalised career development plan
- Access to experienced mentors and a formal companywide mentoring program
- Flexible working arrangements, 4 additional leave Rostered Days Off (Wellbeing days) each year, the option to purchase extra annual leave, enhanced paid parental leave, and a range of wellbeing initiatives
- An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate household
- Opportunities to participate in AGE’s Reward and Recognition Program, Employee Engagement Surveys and a range of social and team events
- The opportunity to work on complex, high profile, career shaping projects and industry exposure that comes with working in an internationally recognised specialist groundwater consultancy
About You
Technical experience gets you into consideration, but leadership and commercial appetite determine whether you fit this particular succession opportunity.
You'll be the kind of leader who backs your colleagues, works collaboratively across the business with a “team first” mentality, spots the next opportunity, and thinks about what the team needs, not just what your project needs.
You'll be trusted to build client relationships and deepen AGE's presence across the region, adding to a steady pipeline of work built on nearly 30 years of technical excellence in national and international projects. You'll be given space and time to bring in work, not just deliver it.
To be considered, you'll need:
- Experience operating at Senior Consultant level (or above), with strong technical knowledge, excellence in project delivery and client management credibility
- A track record of mentoring, delegating and taking responsibility for outcomes beyond your own technical output - formally or informally
- Commercial intelligence - you notice and seek opportunities and convert them confidently
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- A genuine commitment to being immersed in the city of Townsville and developing the region over the long term
- Permanent residency of Australia
We will provide relocation support for candidates within Australia who are willing to make Townsville home.
