We make the new home buying journey easier by giving buyers useful information about their options, the communities they could live in, and the decisions involved in buying and building a home.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Property Content Writer who can turn research, industry insights and complex property topics into clear, engaging articles.
You’ll create content that helps Australians make informed decisions about buying land, choosing a builder and finding their next home. Your work will include buyer guides, suburb and community profiles, property news, and articles about home designs and building.
Responsibilities
- Research and write original articles about new homes, land, house and land packages, housing estates, builders and the home buying journey.
- Develop suburb and community profiles covering amenities, transport, schools, lifestyle and local development.
- Identify relevant news, trends and story ideas for OpenLot’s audience.
- Interview developers, builders, industry experts and home buyers where appropriate.
- Verify facts, figures, quotes and sources before publication.
- Write effective headlines, article summaries and metadata, applying SEO best practices naturally.
- Update existing articles as information changes.
- Collaborate with the marketing and wider OpenLot team to plan content and meet publishing deadlines.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in content writing, journalism or a similar editorial role.
- Excellent written English, with strong editing and proofreading skills.
- An ability to explain technical or unfamiliar topics without unnecessary jargon.
- An understanding of search intent and basic SEO principles.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- An interest in Australian property, new homes and communities.
- Experience writing about property, construction, finance or consumer topics would be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with content management systems and analytics tools would also be beneficial.
- If you use AI tools, you must be able to independently verify their output and take responsibility for the accuracy, originality and quality of your work.
Working arrangement
- Being part of a hyper-growth start-up, a true prop-tech disrupter in the new home space
- Our office is in Mentone but you have the flexibility to work from home for up to 4 days a week
- A day off on your birthday every year
- Performance bonus available with the team growth target
