Azooa is seeking an experienced specialist for a proposed Defence engagement supporting ground-based air defence systems integration and interoperability.

This opportunity suits a professional with strong Defence systems architecture experience, knowledge of Integrated Air and Missile Defence, and practical understanding of tactical communications and Link-16 networks.

Engagement details

• Location: Russell Offices, Canberra.
• Proposed contract: 9 November 2026 to 31 December 2027.
• Engagement: Up to 220 days across the contract period.
• Extension: One six-month extension option.
• Level: Advanced Practitioner.
• Clearance: NV2 essential; Positive Vetting desirable.

About the role

You will work with Defence stakeholders and system owners to assess current capabilities, identify integration gaps and develop practical strategies for improving interoperability across connected air defence systems.

The work combines technical analysis, capability planning, stakeholder engagement and delivery of architecture and strategy documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Document current capability baselines, architectures and interfaces.
• Develop capability roadmaps and assess future integration requirements.
• Review operational scenarios, use cases and stakeholder needs.
• Analyse interoperability across air defence, command and control, tactical communications and supporting information systems.
• Identify capability gaps, dependencies, constraints and risks.
• Define future capability improvements and explore delivery options and operating models.
• Develop interoperability assurance profiles, capability papers, strategies and high-level program schedules.
• Coordinate stakeholder input and prepare engagement plans and progress reports.
• Produce clear written deliverables consistent with Defence standards.

Essential experience

• Extensive experience with ADF Ground Based Air Defence systems, planning and execution.
• Knowledge and experience of Tactical Data Link networks, specifically Link-16.
• Strong knowledge of Defence Communications and Information Systems and their stakeholder communities.
• Experience in Defence programs, force design or concept development.
• Project or program management experience within Defence.
• Understanding of Joint and land-domain processes within operational and tactical headquarters.
• Experience working within the Defence Capability System.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate complex technical information into clear advice.
• NV2 security clearance.

Desirable

• Positive Vetting security clearance.

The nominated work location is Canberra. Approved travel may be required. Appointment is subject to the procurement outcome and client approval.
