Head of Finance

A NSW Government Agency based in Sydney's CBD is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join their team on a contract basis. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this is a CFO-level leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, driving best-practice financial management and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned finance leader to make a meaningful impact within one of NSW's most iconic cultural institutions.

Contract Details

• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: 31 July 2026
• Pay Rate: $95/hour + super
• Location: Sydney CBD
• Hours: 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week
• Working Arrangement: Hybrid (across two CBD locations)

Key Experience Sought

• Minimum 8 years' experience in financial management and accounting, including budgeting, reporting and financial planning in medium to large private or government sector organisations.
• Proven senior-level experience providing strategic financial advice to executive leadership and boards.
• Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
• Strong experience in statutory financial reporting, cash management and financial modelling.
• Thorough knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Treasury requirements, including the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983.
• Solid understanding of NSW Government procurement frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems within a complex organisational environment.

Qualifications Required

• University-level qualification in finance or accounting.
• CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) accreditation.
