Events Officer (ASO5 Equivalent)

Your new company

An opportunity exists to join a prominent South Australian Government agency located in the Adelaide CBD, supporting high-profile state growth sectors across industry, innovation, and community initiatives. You will work within an established Marketing and Communications team, leading and coordinating events and sponsorship programmes that profile South Australia on local, national, and international stages.

Your new role

As Events Officer (ASO5), you will take an operational and project coordination role in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of agency events, major trade exhibitions, and sponsorship agreements. Reporting directly to the Marketing and Events Manager, you will collaborate closely with internal business units, preferred agencies, key suppliers, and industry stakeholders to deliver high-quality event outcomes.

You will manage end-to-end event logistics, including participant invitations, RSVP tracking, VIP schedule coordination, venue and catering arrangements, and travel bookings. In addition, you will coordinate the production of event merchandise, manage procurement processes in line with public sector guidelines, and draft ministerial minutes, proposals, and post-event evaluation reports.

What you'll need to succeed

  • In-House Government Event Experience: Mandatory demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering events within a public sector or government department environment, applying relevant protocols and operational frameworks.
  • National Police Clearance: A valid, current National Police Clearance is mandatory prior to commencement.
  • Event Coordination Expertise: Experience in planning and delivering corporate exhibitions, major industry events, or trade shows to tight deadlines.
  • Sponsorship & Logistics Administration: Solid practical understanding of corporate sponsorship delivery, benefit tracking, venue coordination, catering, and merchandise procurement.
  • Communication & Executive Reporting: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting ministerial minutes, briefings, and evaluation reports.
  • Mandatory Qualifications & Licences: Tertiary qualifications in Event Management, Communications, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical workplace experience). A current Class C Driver's Licence and willingness to undertake occasional travel and out-of-hours work as required.

What you'll get in return

This is an 8-month agency contract offering direct involvement in high-profile industry events and exhibitions at an ASO5 level. You will work within a collaborative team environment in a central CBD location while expanding your public sector project portfolio.
