Purchasing Manager

Desky started in Brisbane in 2020 with sit-stand desks. It now sells ergonomic furniture to customers in Australia, the US and Canada, and has just launched in Europe. The team built the supply chain behind all of that themselves. Now they are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to take it over and make it even better.

What you’ll be doing

• Strategy: You’ll shape the purchasing strategy for markets in Australia, the US, Canada and Europe, planning how and when stock is bought so each country has what it needs.
• Suppliers and negotiation: Part of the role is finding and assessing new suppliers, and working through contracts, pricing and terms with them.
• Stock: You’ll forecast demand and plan stock levels together with the operations team, so the right products are there when customers want them.
• Reporting: You’ll put together the purchasing, forecasting and supplier performance reports that help the business make decisions.
• Savings and improvement: Find cost savings by keeping an eye on pricing, freight and wider supply chain trends.
• Leadership: You’ll lead and support a hands-on purchasing and logistics team, helping them grow and shaping how the team works as Desky grows.

What we’d love to see in your background

• 5+ years in purchasing or procurement, with hands-on experience buying from international suppliers
• You’ve done the whole lot yourself: sourcing, negotiating, managing suppliers and sorting out logistics
• Experience in a product business, ideally ecommerce, retail or consumer goods, shipping internationally
• Comfortable in an ERP system (Cin7 or similar)
