Shape and grow our water capability in Brisbane

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Water Engineer who wants to do more than simply step into an established project portfolio.

Working from our Brisbane office, you’ll help us grow our water and wastewater capability, turning opportunities already being identified by our Water Lead into successful projects and long-term client relationships. Initially, you’ll also support established teams and opportunities across our other locations, giving you a broader pipeline while building capability locally in Brisbane.

About the Role

This is a hands-on senior position combining technical delivery, client relationships and business development.

You’ll lead water and wastewater projects from planning and concept design through detailed design and delivery, with work spanning hydraulic assessments, pipelines, pump stations, treatment infrastructure, upgrades and master planning. You’ll also oversee technical outputs and help develop less experienced engineers.

Importantly, we’re looking for someone comfortable being in front of clients. You’ll work with our Water Lead to pursue opportunities, prepare scopes and fee proposals, develop relationships and help secure repeat and new work.

The role will also complement our existing urban development projects, bringing senior water and sewer expertise into multidisciplinary project teams.

Your focus will include

  • Leading the planning, design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Delivering hydraulic assessments and designs for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants and related infrastructure
  • Managing project scope, programme, budget, risk and technical quality
  • Engaging directly with clients, utilities, councils and regulatory authorities
  • Preparing proposals, scopes and fee estimates and helping convert opportunities into work
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring graduate and junior engineers.

What we’re looking for

This position will suit an established engineer who can operate with a good degree of independence and is equally comfortable winning work and delivering it.

You’ll need

  • At least 8 years’ experience in water and wastewater infrastructure
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • RPEQ
  • Demonstrated water and wastewater treatment project experience
  • Strong hydraulic assessment and infrastructure design capability
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to communicate technical recommendations clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Just as importantly, you’ll need the confidence to build trusted relationships with clients and identify where those relationships can lead to new or repeat work.

The Team and Environment

You’ll be based in Brisbane and report to the Brisbane General Manager while working closely with our Water Lead.

You’ll join an office where water expertise can add another dimension to the team’s existing capability, particularly across urban development. Initially, there is also an opportunity to work across our broader network, including supporting projects and opportunities nationally.

Why Join Us?

This role offers a useful balance for someone who enjoys both technical engineering and building a consulting practice.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Play a meaningful role in growing our Brisbane water and wastewater capability
  • Work across projects and opportunities beyond Queensland
  • Diversify into multidisciplinary urban development work
  • Lead projects and client relationships rather than being confined to one technical function
  • Mentor developing engineers and influence technical capability across the team.

The broader position is designed around delivering high-quality project outcomes while developing productive client relationships and contributing to repeat business and business development.

Other benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements available
  • Birthday leave day to celebrate you
  • Annual Health & Wellness benefit to the value of $250
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Regular Lunch & learn sessions
  • Milestone Recognition
