Principal Checkpoint Specialist

Are you an experienced technical lead looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Technical Specialist to drive enterprise-wide firewall replacements and upgrades for a major cyber security programme. This crucial role is heavily focused on the end-to-end build, deployment, and configuration of Check Point firewalls, alongside providing expert support for Palo Alto solutions. You will provide advanced technical expertise, hands-on implementation, and strategic advice on firewall infrastructure to ensure optimal network security, performance, and continuous compliance within a fast-paced, enterprise environment.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the end-to-end deployment, upgrade, and configuration of Check Point firewalls as the primary platform.
• Support and optimise firewall environments across Check Point and Palo Alto Secure Web Gateway (SWG), ensuring seamless integration with Cisco routing and switching.
• Orchestrate firewall rule bases and optimise policies via the AlgoSec platform to ensure continuous compliance and governance.
• Monitor firewall health and performance using SolarWinds, providing advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and proactive issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain essential technical documentation, including solution designs, ICT change plans, implementation procedures, and testing artefacts.

What You Need to Apply for This Role:

• Extensive hands-on experience with Check Point firewall technologies, with a strong focus on builds, replacements, upgrades, and policy optimisation.
• Practical expertise with Palo Alto capabilities in enterprise deployments and a strong background in Cisco routing and switching.
• Demonstrated experience using AlgoSec (or equivalent network security policy management tools) and SolarWinds (or similar monitoring platforms).
• A solid understanding of cyber security frameworks, with practical knowledge of ITIL service management, change management, and configuration management processes.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical designs and implementation procedures, combined with strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
