Part-Time Fashion Designer (2 Days per Week)
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Fashion Designer to join our team on a part-time basis (2 days per week). This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for design and carries a passion for supporting the process of translating design concepts into commercially viable pieces.
Active Basics is a dynamic and rapidly growing activewear brand dedicated to creating stylish, functional, and high-quality essentials for individuals of all activity levels. As a small, passionate team, we pride ourselves on delivering elevated designs that align with our brand direction. We’re looking for a Fashion Designer who is eager to grow with us and assist in various areas of the business, from collection design to photoshoot styling + more.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaboratively design and develop seasonal & core product ranges aligned with brand direction
- Liaise with the factory on all aspects of product development to ensure on-time delivery and quality standards
- Create detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction, and fabrication notes - proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and CAD is required
- Coordination of the sourcing of fabrics, trims, and finishes in line with the design brief
- Collaborate with production teams and suppliers to ensure accurate sampling and timelines
- Conduct fit sessions and refine garments for optimal fit and functionality
- Research and collate trend boards, colour palettes, and materials while maintaining a considered and timeless design approach
- Develop range plans, line sheets, and assist with product development processes
- Assist the team with photoshoot styling
About You
- Proven experience in fashion design (activewear or contemporary apparel experience highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabrication
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator & CAD and lab dips
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively in a part-time capacity
- A refined design aesthetic with a focus on clean, elevated silhouettes
- Design portfolio
What We Are Looking For!
The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Fashion & Textile Design (degree or diploma) or related field.
Strong design portfolio showcasing design abilities & creative style
