Our client is a strong national brand with a well-known insurance practice in Brisbane. This team specialises in the defence of professional negligence claims against solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers, financial planners, construction professionals and allied health professionals.

The team also regularly acts for Australian and overseas insurers on policy interpretation and indemnity disputes in respect of all policies including professional indemnity, third party liability, industrial special risk, management liability, D&O and strata policies.

We are seeking an Associate to Special Counsel level candidate who will be responsible for and have carriage of their own files, with appropriate supervision from supportive and industry leading Partners. The ideal candidate will be confident with day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings.

Responsibilities include

• Client interaction and strategy;
• Working with a small team of Lawyers (for those at SA and SC level, this will include supervising junior members of the team);
• Reviewing documents and preparing evidence;
• Drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;
• Conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
• Preparing briefs for counsel;
• Drafting Court documents and attendance at Court;
• Drafting client advices; and
• Drafting letters of instruction to experts.

We would like to brief candidates who have 3+ years experience with general insurance matters with some experience in professional indemnity / financial lines matters.
