A unique opportunity is available for an experienced

Estates Litigation lawyer to join our fast-growing Estates Planning & Probate Team on a permanent full-time basis. We are open to applicants from all states. You will play a vital role in assisting our broad range of clients throughout Australia by providing high quality legal advice in all areas of succession, with a particular focus on estate litigation. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate looking for an opportunity within a national firm that supports work-life balance and career development.

The key responsibilities include

  • Autonomously manage a diverse caseload of succession disputes from inception through to resolution, including contested estates, family provision claims, and executor removal proceedings.
  • Drafting and settling applications, affidavits, correspondence and Court documents to a high standard.
  • Providing strategic advice to clients (executors, administrators, beneficiaries) on rights and obligations in relation to testamentary capacity, undue influence and solemn form proceedings.
  • Preparation / oversight of the full gamut of wills and estates files.
  • Mentorship and supervision of junior lawyers as the team grows.
  • Client engagement from initial meetings to mediations and hearings.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 5+ years' post admission experience in succession law, with at least 3 years focused on estate litigation and contentious probate matters;
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Succession and family provision legislation and associated procedural rules.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Court proceedings, including mediations.
  • Broad estate administration and litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and be self-motivated.
  • Current unrestricted Practising Certificate.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law (LLB or equivalent).
