The Team

The Workforce Strategy and Planning Unit (WSPU) provides statewide leadership in cross‑sectoral health workforce strategy, policy and planning, including medical workforce policy and strategy, to build a sustainable, skilled and future‑ready workforce for Tasmania. The Unit delivers integrated, evidence‑based workforce planning aligned with service and infrastructure planning, leads implementation and monitoring of the Health Workforce Sustainability Strategy and Plan, and ensures alignment with national workforce reforms and priorities. The Workforce Planning Team is responsible for the delivery of strategic, integrated workforce planning that is aligned with the Health Workforce Sustainability Strategy and Plan 2025-2030

The Role

This position will support the Planning Team to effectively undertake robust, evidence-based workforce planning by leading the enhancement of workforce analytics and business processes by applying advanced data analysis, system improvement and modern technology solutions. The position will provide specialist technical leadership in analytics, modelling and process redesign to improve data quality, automation, usability and the overall effectiveness of workforce intelligence.

You will need

  • Experience in workforce analytics and business processes redesign.
  • High‑level proficiency in analytics and modelling tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, Python or similar), with experience developing dashboards, forecasting models, automated reporting and repeatable analytical workflow.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven capacity to lead change.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight.

Position Features

Some intrastate travel required.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in data science, analytics, statistics, computer science, health information management, economics or a related discipline.
  • Experience in workforce analytics and business processes redesign.
