About the Role
This role is a senior member in the Legal function and key contributor to the overarching culture of the legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a key role in providing solutions focused advice and strategies to GIICA, our Board, CEO and leadership team to enable GIICA to play its part in the success of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This role is fast paced and operates in a complex, high-profile and often changing environment.
In joining the Authority, you will join a team of hard-working professionals, dedicated to preparing Queensland for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The salary on offer is between $230,000 and $260,000 per annum commensurate with experience, inclusive of 12.75% superannuation. This is a full-time, maximum-term role for 6-years.

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is laying the foundations for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.
Hosting the world’s largest sporting celebration is a privilege that will define Queensland for the rest of the 21st century, driving economic growth, sustainability, connectivity, and healthier, more-inclusive communities.

About your Responsibilities
As a senior member of the Legal function, you will be responsible for:
- Proactively identifying and managing risks relevant to GIICA’s portfolio of projects;
- The development and delivery of agreements for the delivery of 17 Games venues (including complex infrastructure agreements);
- Building strong relationships with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to be a trusted and respected partner;
- Preparing clear and relevant reports and advice to senior management and the Board on key legal issues and risks; and
- Partner with panel of legal firms to provide strategic oversight and guidance in relation to the provision of external legal services to drive value for money and ensure high-quality outcomes.
About You
Mandatory requirements
The successful applicant must hold a Queensland Practising Certificate with a minimum of 6 years post admission experience in the relevant practice areas.
Experience
- Senior lawyer (minimum 6 years PAE) in a complex face paced environment in an in-house team or as a senior practitioner in private practice.
- Experience in major complex infrastructure project delivery with multiple interfaces.
- Solid understanding of construction law and experience in the delivery of major projects;
- Experience working with or representing contractors, SPV and/or within a regulated sector, government or statutory authority will be highly regarded.
- Experience in managing issues and claims during the delivery phase on major projects will be highly regarded.
