THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a standout opportunity for a mid-level lawyer to step into a growing and well-resourced Taxation team within a broader Corporate & Commercial practice.

You’ll be joining one of the larger taxation teams in the Brisbane market, working across complex, multi-jurisdictional matters with direct client access and the autonomy to take ownership of your work early.

With a strong pipeline of advisory and structuring matters, this role offers the ideal platform to deepen your tax expertise while remaining closely connected to broader commercial transactions.

Key responsibilities include

  • Providing strategic tax advice across income tax, GST, payroll tax, land tax and stamp duty
  • Advising on and drafting complex trust structures, trust deeds, and private client matters (including estates)
  • Contributing to corporate and commercial transactions with tax implications
  • Managing matters with a high degree of autonomy and direct client interaction
  • Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the growth and capability of the team

ABOUT YOU

You are a commercially minded lawyer looking to build a long-term career in tax within a high-performing and supportive environment.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 4 years’ PAE in tax or a related commercial practice
  • Experience in income tax and/or state taxes (or a strong desire to specialise)
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability
  • A genuine interest in tax advisory and structuring work
  • Broader exposure to M&A, property, commercial transactions or tax litigation (advantageous)

This role will suit someone who wants to step beyond pure technical work and become a trusted advisor to clients, while continuing to build depth in tax.
