Education and Behaviour Change Lead (FOGO)

The Opportunity
MidCoast Council is delivering one of the region's most significant waste and sustainability initiatives through the introduction of Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) services. We are seeking an experienced Education & Behaviour Change Lead to drive the community engagement, education and behaviour change program that will support this important transition and help residents understand service changes, improve correct bin use and maximise environmental outcomes.
Reporting to the Communications, Engagement and Marketing Manager, you will lead a high-profile project that combines project management, stakeholder engagement and community education. Working closely with internal teams, community stakeholders and external partners, you will play a key role in delivering lasting environmental and community benefits across the MidCoast region.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the planning and delivery of a multi-channel FOGO community education, engagement and behaviour change program.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, reporting and stakeholder relationships to ensure successful implementation.
- Deliver community engagement activities including workshops, events, pop-ups and stakeholder briefings across the MidCoast region.
- Lead and support the FOGO Community Education Officer while using data and community insights to continuously improve outcomes.
What you'll bring
- Qualifications in project management, communications, community engagement, sustainability, waste education or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading community engagement, education or behaviour change programs.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience planning and delivering face-to-face engagement activities.
- Leadership experience including coaching, mentoring and supporting staff through change.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
What we offer?
Salary: Commencing salary circa $94,500 - $104,000 p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience)
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Full Time, 2 years Fixed Term contract.
