About the role
The Lifecycle Marketing Specialist will manage SCHF’s marketing automation platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, leveraging their experience to help plan, create and execute sophisticated personalised supporter journeys.
This includes, but is not limited to, developing and implementing lifecycle communication strategies, audience segmentation, marketing analytics, automation and campaign effectiveness initiatives that drive supporter engagement, retention and conversion outcomes. A key focus of the role will be supporting new supporter lifecycle initiatives, helping to create seamless and meaningful experiences that strengthen long-term supporter relationships and maximise lifetime value.
The role will work closely with teams across the organisation to translate campaign and fundraising objectives into effective digital journeys and data-driven communications. This position will also play an important role in developing and implementing personalisation strategies, optimisation practices, maintaining email deliverability and improving supporter experience across email channels.
Job Responsibilities
Lead Key Digital Project & Campaigns
- Work with the Head of Digital Engagement to lead the development, implementation and ongoing optimisation of lifecycle communication strategies that support supporter acquisition, engagement, retention, reactivation and conversion objectives, with an ultimate focus on increasing supporter lifetime value.
- Design, build and manage personalised supporter journeys within our marketing automation platform, ensuring communications are timely, relevant, data-driven and aligned to supporter behaviour.
- Support the development and governance of contact strategies, audience rules and suppression frameworks to improve supporter experience, minimise communication fatigue and protect sender reputation.
- Partner with teams across fundraising and engagement to translate business objectives into effective automated journeys and email communication plans.
- Champion email marketing best practice across the organisation, including deliverability, accessibility, personalisation, compliance, data hygiene and supporter-centric communication principles.
- Upskill and support SCHF staff in email marketing and marketing automation best practice through training, documentation, collaboration and ongoing guidance.
- Stay up to date with new features and opportunities available with our marketing automation platform and make recommendations on how we can maximise them
Segmentation, Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain audience segmentation strategies to support targeted, personalised and data-driven supporter communications across multiple campaigns and lifecycle stages.
- Work with the Data and Technology team to build and manage dynamic audiences, data extensions and segmentation logic within SCHF’s marketing automation platform to improve engagement, conversion and supporter experience outcomes.
- Analyse campaign, journey and channel performance using key metrics including engagement, conversion, retention, unsubscribe and deliverability trends, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Develop regular reporting dashboards and post-campaign analysis to communicate performance outcomes, trends and optimisation opportunities to stakeholders across the organisation.
- Monitor supporter behaviour and engagement trends to identify opportunities for lifecycle optimisation, automation enhancements and improved supporter retention.
Integration & Testing
- Collaborate with the Data & Technology team to support the integration and alignment of our marketing automation platform with SCHF’s broader digital ecosystem, ensuring data flows, audience syncing and communication triggers operate effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure all email communications and automated journeys comply with relevant privacy, consent and compliance requirements, as well as organisational standards and best practice.
- Monitor platform performance, deliverability and system functionality, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and supporter experience.
- Work closely with stakeholders to support the successful rollout of new campaigns, journeys, integrations and digital engagement initiatives.
Marketing Automation Platform Ownership and Governance
- Act as the subject matter expert for our marketing automation platform across SCHF
- Maintain platform governance, documentation, naming conventions and operational best practice.
- Manage user access, processes and quality assurance standards within our marketing automation platform.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform capability, scalability and efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years' experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementation and administration.
- Strong understanding of Email Studio, Journey Builder, Mobile Studio, and Customer Preference Centre.
- Experience with campaign journey design, dynamic content, triggered sends, and A/B testing.
- Proven ability to work with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, for marketing integration.
- Familiarity with customer segmentation, marketing analytics and reporting.
- Understanding of data sync tools and methods (e.g., Marketing Cloud Connect, API, SFTP).
- Prior experience in non-profit or donor-focused organisations is desirable.
Functional and Technical Skills
- SFMC certifications (Marketing Cloud Email Specialist or Marketing Cloud Consultant) are highly desirable.
- Experience using SQL and AMPscript in campaign personalisation and automation.
- Ability to build audiences and manage subscriber data models within SFMC.
- Familiarity with data privacy, consent management and anti-spam compliance best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise across technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and ability to work independently.

We are pleased to offer a full-time salary of up to $121,933 plus superannuation for this position. We believe in recognising and rewarding the valuable contributions of our team members.
