The Head of Security and Facilities Operations is responsible for the leadership, governance, and operational excellence of all security issues as well as facilities and property-related services across EFA. EFA own and operate an 11-story building in Sydney’s CBD, occupying a number of floors and renting out a number to tenants. This role will be responsible for ensuring the safe and secure operations of the building.
The role ensures that all physical workspaces are safe, compliant, cost effective and sustainable, while delivering a high-quality employee and tenant experience. The role also manages security issues for the organisation ensuring a secure and appropriately managed operating environment. The role leads a small team of two and manages key external partners to deliver end to end facilities management, including security measures, property operations, workplace experience, compliance, risk management and vendor governance.
ABOUT YOU
Security management:
- Determine and oversee appropriate security measures for the organisation including physical security requirements appropriate for a government agency based in Sydney.
- Manage security clearances and ensure appropriate handling of security access for staff.
- Oversee the end-to-end operations of EFA’s premises, ensuring a safe, functional, clean and high-quality working environment.
- Lead tenant relationship management, including lease obligations, onboarding/offboarding and stakeholder management.
- Manage the efficient running of the secure room including liaising with the relevant Government authorities to ensure the room remains secure.
Vendor and contractor management:
- Lead the sourcing, selection and performance management of external vendors, contractors and service providers.
- Establish robust service level agreements (SLAs).
Compliance, Risk and Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with building regulations, workplace health and safety (WHS), and statutory obligations.
- Oversee risk management frameworks, including incident management, business continuity and emergency preparedness.
- Maintain compliance across essential services (fire, electrical, lifts, etc) and audit requirements.
- Lead emergency planning, crisis response protocols and evacuation procedures.
Capital works and projects:
- Lead and oversee capital works programs, refurbishments and fit outs.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and aligned to organisational standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on workplace transformation and design initiatives.
- Manage project risks, governance and stakeholder communication.
Sustainability and ESG initiatives:
- Support sustainability strategies across facilities operations
- Drive initiatives to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction and environmental performance.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Qualifications
- Relevant degree, certificate or diploma in Facilities Managements, Property or related discipline
- Industry certifications highly regarded.
- First Aid Certificate and/or Fire Warden Training (or willingness to obtain)
- Security Clearance – Active security clearance is highly desirable
Experience and knowledge
- Experience in facilities management, building operations or property administration
- Experience in working with commercial tenants or shared office spaces
- Strong experience in vendor management, contract negotiation and service delivery oversight
- Strong understanding of compliance, WHS and regulatory frameworks
- Good analytical skills and understanding of financial impact of decisions
