Anglicare Tasmania is seeking a fixed-term, part-time Policy and Advocacy Officer to join the Social Action and Research Centre (SARC) for 6 months working 2 or 3 days per week.
This position offers flexible working hours for the successful candidate.
Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the Role
You will contribute to research, policy development, advocacy and quality assurance work. The role focuses on developing effective, evidence-informed reports and submission to supporting advocacy activities.
About You
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyse State and Federal policy developments.
- Analyse data to identify trends, service gaps and community need.
- Prepare research papers, submissions and reports.
- Undertake quality assurance of reports, policy documents and related outputs.
- Contribute to advocacy that influences public policy, practice and community understanding.
- Undertake consultation with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Postgraduate qualification in social sciences (or related field), or equivalent experience.
- Experience in public policy development and advocacy.

The successful applicant will be required to:
- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category);
- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
