Primary objective
Provide appropriate, proficient, coordinated service programs, sound clinical care and management of complex client
presentations within adult mental health community services.
Context statement
Provision of high-quality mental health services to consumers, as well as leadership and supervision within the Community
Mental Health Team, with sound understanding of the NT Mental and Related Services Act (MHRSA) and eligibility for
appointment as a Designated Mental Health Practitioner (DMHP).
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Applies specialist knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a defined practice area in therapeutic and professional
relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities.
2. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
3. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination
of comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.
4. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant Allied Health qualifications that meet membership eligibility requirements of the relevant Australian
professional associations, and registration for practice in Australia (AHPRA or relevant others).
2. Demonstrated extensive recent clinical experience in the mental health assessment, treatment and rehabilitation
methods appropriate to people being managed in the community.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards and trends in the delivery of mental health services to the target
population.
4. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, carers and other professionals from diverse cultures and to
prepare written reports of a high standard, and to work harmoniously with colleagues and effectively within a
multidisciplinary team.
5. Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills, including well developed negotiation and conflict management
skills, with significant experience working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications in Mental Health.
