The Alumni Support Lead plays a key role in making this happen.
This is a people‑centred role for someone who enjoys building trust, supporting others, and keeping a clear view of alumni engagement. It’s grounded in relationships, organisation and purpose.
About the Role
The Alumni Support Lead provides day‑to‑day guidance to the Alumni Support Officers and helps shape how Yalari engages with alumni.
You’ll coordinate programs, support engagement initiatives, and ensure relationships, systems and communication work smoothly. You’ll also listen to alumni voices to help ensure support remains responsive to their needs. You will work closely with Head of Alumni and Pathways and the wider Executive team to achieve our operational goals and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Support
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and support to Alumni Support Officers, ensuring they feel guided and confident in their community‑based work.
- Foster a consistent, caring and culturally grounded approach to alumni support across the team.
Program Coordination and Delivery
- Lead the design, coordination and delivery of the Mob Meet Up series in partnership with Alumni Support Officers.
- Manage and support the Alumni Council, including coordination, preparation and follow‑up.
Alumni Engagement and Opportunities
- Maintain and refine the alumni engagement segmentation model to support targeted, meaningful engagement.
- Develop and deliver digital communications and campaigns (including EDMs) to increase engagement and participation across alumni and their families.
- Coordinate and recruit alumni for opportunities.

Capability and Performance Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support others using a calm, relationship‑focused
- Strong program coordination skills, with the ability to hold multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong, trust‑based relationships with alumni, communities, partners and internal stakeholders.
- Commitment to culturally safe, respectful practice when engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander alumni and communities.
- Clear, kind and confident communication across written and verbal contexts.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- At least three years’ experience in leading remote teams.
- Ability to conduct regular inter and intrastate travel.
- Proven cultural competency, including strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and a demonstrated ability to uphold cultural safety.
- The ability to foster respectful; and culturally safe environment and maintain culturally safe interactions.
- Experience coordinating programs, events or stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working with communities, young people or purpose‑driven programs.
- Strong relationship‑building and communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion and reliability.
- Hold a Class C License.
- Hold or ability to obtain a Working with Children Check.
Desirable
- Qualifications in Program Management, Community Development, Social Work or a related field.
- Experience using CRMs or engagement tracking systems.
