About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Clerical Officer to join our Development Assessment team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, proactive and skilled team member to support the Portal and Gateway Administration Team. In this role, you will play a key part in the day-to-day operations of Council's Development Services Section by:

  • Processing applications lodged through the NSW Planning Portal
  • Providing administrative support to Development Assessment and Development Services staff
  • Delivering high-quality customer service to residents, applicants, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Assisting customers with enquiries relating to planning and development processes
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and legislative requirements
  • Providing advice and support to internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive customer outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, a commitment to customer service and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 12 months’ work experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable

  • Relevant office experience and good keyboard skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to deal efficiently with multiple tasks
  • Data entry experience, high volume.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,315.70 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
