About The Role

As the Coordinator Community Strengthening, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for driving meaningful community engagement, social planning, and inclusive service delivery across the municipality. This key leadership role works across Council and with external partners to ensure the voices of diverse groups are embedded in policy, planning, and program design.

Reporting to the Manager Active and Connected Communities, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team and guide the development of strategies, programs, and partnerships that respond to current and emerging community needs. You will play a critical role in shaping Council’s approach to community strengthening, ensuring services are evidence-based, collaborative, and aligned with best practice.

This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

You are an experienced and values-driven leader with a passion for strengthening communities and driving positive social outcomes. You bring a collaborative approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate community insights into impactful strategies, programs, and policies.

A natural relationship-builder, you excel in engaging with diverse stakeholders, influencing outcomes, and fostering partnerships across government, community organisations, and the broader community.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in social policy, community development, planning, human services, research, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, social planning, and policy development
  • Experience in project management, including coordinating complex initiatives
  • Strong understanding of community development principles and inclusive engagement practices
  • Experience working within local government, public sector, or not-for-profit environments (desirable)

Successful applicants are required to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children's Check.
