The Workforce Planning Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping ASC’s future workforce. As a core member of the Workforce Planning and Strategy Section, the role drives the evolution of ASC’s workforce, modelling tools and strengthens the frameworks that power our workforce and scenario planning capability. These foundations directly influence Workforce Strategy, initiatives and future workforce decisions.

The role actively contributes recommendations to P&C, Capability Leadership Teams and Program, shaping key decisions that determine ASC’s workforce direction. It monitors workforce capacity using diverse data sources and planning tools, ensuring strong Workforce Planning Governance and enabling confident, data‑driven workforce decisions.

A major focus is program‑level strategic workforce planning, including the exciting and emerging integration of AI and role‑automation methodologies in it's analysis.

The role partners closely with stakeholders to ensure workforce plans translate into successful workforce initiatives.

Working alongside workforce planning leads, the position analyses workforce supply‑and‑demand gaps, evaluates scenario impacts, and develops strategic insights and recommendations. It supports workshops that define workforce assumptions and contributes to high‑quality workforce planning reports.

The role will have opportunity to review external labour market and a number levers within analytical tools to support the provision of outputs for workforce plans. Thriving in a fast‑moving environment, the role consistently delivers high‑quality outputs under tight deadlines. Producing accurate, influential data and insights for key ASC documents is a central and valued outcome.

This role is suitable to someone who thrives in complex, multi-disciplinary environment and brings a sharp, analytical mindset to every challenge. You hold a tertiary qualification in Economics, Commerce, Business, or Computer Science/Business Analytics —or possess equivalent experience that demonstrates your depth of expertise. You’re skilled at researching and validating information across multiple sources, and you know how to interpret workforce composition and organisational structures across industries with precision.

Your understanding of workforce planning principles is second to none, and you’re confident in applying long-term strategic practices that drive real impact. You communicate clearly and effectively across diverse teams, align with key partners, and deliver insights that inform smarter decisions. You don’t just analyse data—you transform it into meaningful action.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. Whilst we will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
