Mobile Laboratory Technician
ALRA | Australia’s Leading Recruitment Agency
$90,000 - $130,000 + Training + Growth Opportunity
Brisbane | Mobile NATA Laboratory
Help launch a first-of-its-kind testing service in Australia
Mobile Laboratory Manager / Field Technician, this is the role for someone who enjoys the technical side of asbestos identification but is ready for something beyond four walls and fluorescent lighting.
Most asbestos testing follows the same process. Samples are collected, sent away, queued up and eventually tested. The people on site wait. Projects wait. Decisions wait.
This business looked at that process and asked a simple question: why?
The answer is a fully fitted, NATA-accredited mobile laboratory designed to bring testing directly to site. Same-day analysis. Faster decisions. Better outcomes for clients.
As the technical lead of this service, you'll operate a purpose-built mobile laboratory throughout Brisbane and SEQ, combining laboratory analysis, field sampling, client interaction and service development into one genuinely unique position.
You'll still be doing the technical work you enjoy. You'll just get to see the immediate impact of it.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the mobile laboratory function and become a key part of growing and refining the service as demand increases.
- Operate a fully equipped mobile asbestos testing laboratory
- Conduct asbestos identification and analysis to NATA standards
- Collect samples directly from sites across Brisbane and SEQ
- Deliver same-day reporting and technical advice to clients
- Maintain QA/QC procedures and accreditation requirements
- Assist with improving systems, processes and service delivery
- Contribute to the future growth and rollout of the business
Who You'll Work With
This is a small, entrepreneurial team built by experienced property professionals who identified a genuine gap in the market.
Rather than building another traditional testing business, they've invested heavily in creating something different. The infrastructure is in place, demand is building and now they need the right technical expert to help bring it to life.
You'll work closely with the leadership team, have a genuine voice in how the service evolves and play a meaningful role in shaping its future direction.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years' experience identifying asbestos under a microscope
- NATA laboratory experience
- Ability to pass the Proficiency Testing Australia (PTA) program
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Interest in combining laboratory work with field activities
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership
- Licensed Asbestos Assessor qualifications beneficial, but not essential
This role will suit someone who enjoys the science but wants more variety, more responsibility and the opportunity to be part of building something genuinely new.
If you're interested in this position please don't hesitate to hit Apply or to contact me for further information. Your approach will be held in confidence.
