Principal Coordinator - Community Development

• Temporary, full-time opportunity (up to 12 months)

The purpose of this position is to have full responsibility to strategically lead the Community Development team for Council. The role will work closely with the Mayor and General Manager, providing regular advice on potential Council support and capacity building for at risk community members and not-for-profit groups, while exercising excellent judgment about sensitive community issues.

What this role looks like

•Lead and manage the community development team.

•Research and provide strategic advice on community development issues to the Council including

the Mayor and Executive.

•Identify and deliver capacity building outcomes, working with local community groups and/or state

government agencies.

•Coordinate the implementation of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

•Represent Council at stakeholder and community group meeting on behalf of the organisation.

•Attend stakeholder and community group meetings on behalf of the organisation with the Mayor as required.

•Degree in related fields such as Community Development or being able to demonstrate considerable community development management experience.

•Considerable experience of more than 8 years in managing community development programs to a very high standard in a political environment.

•Drivers Licence (Class C) – NSW and Working With Children Check
