We have some great opportunities for casual Registered Nurses to join the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Casual pool working across sites located at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, Macquarie Hospital, Northern Beaches Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital.

Where you'll be working

As part of the NSLHD MHDA Casual Pool, you’ll have the flexibility to nominate your preferred facility, with opportunities available at:

  • Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (HKH) – Hornsby
  • Macquarie Hospital - North Ryde
  • Northern Beaches Hospital - Frenchs Forest

  • Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) – St Leonards

What you'll be doing

The Registered Nurse (RN) within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Services leads and supports quality patient health outcomes with a focus of recovery across a range of health care settings. The RN assumes a leadership role within the nursing team supporting, coaching and leading nursing staff including Enrolled Nurses (EN) and Assistants in Nursing (AIN). The RN plans, implements and evaluates specific mental health nursing care activities that support the multidisciplinary health care team and ensures safe practice within adopted models of care.

MHDA Statement of Intention

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practices and collaboration.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current mental health, drug and alcohol clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.
