Data Analysts x2 | Brisbane Based | Contract (6 months, potential to go permanent)

Company Overview

BLACKROC is partnering with a leading global organisation to recruit two Data Analysts to join their data and finance teams respectively. Both roles are more "builder" than "analyst." You'll be constructing the data products, not just reporting on them.

Role Purpose

We're hiring for two similar but distinct positions. Both require strong hands-on PowerBI, Databricks, SQL and Python skills, but sit in different parts of the business:

Position 1: Finance team: Focused on the financial integrity of a major customer program. You'll build and maintain the data products underpinning liability reporting and cost reporting, working closely with brand finance teams to deliver audit-ready outputs.

Position 2: Data team: Focused on building out an Analytics-as-a-Product platform. You'll strengthen the current data environment while continuing to build new capability, working across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers to help the wider business make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Position 1 (Finance):

• Build and maintain data products supporting liability reporting and cost reporting
• Develop detection logic for audit exceptions and size associated financial risk
• Reconcile data across internal platforms and brand revenue sources
• Support broader finance reporting, including internal cost calculations for clients/members and portfolio-related reporting

Position 2 (Data team):

• Build and strengthen an Analytics-as-a-Product platform
• Work across Bronze, Silver and (likely) Gold data layers in Databricks
• Stitch together disparate datasets into trusted, reusable sources
• Produce hybrid tables to support reporting and analytics across the business

Required Skills & Experience (both roles)

• Strong hands-on experience with PowerBI
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
• Advanced SQL
• Python for data engineering / analytics workflows
• A genuine builder mindset, comfortable constructing data products, not just running analysis
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, sales-data-driven environment with a degree of ambiguity

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Position 1: prior exposure to finance, financial services, or rewards/points-based reporting
• Position 2: prior medallion architecture / lakehouse experience
