Associate Nurse Unit Manager - PTSD & Trauma

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our specialised PTSD and Trauma Ward at Langmore Centre, providing evidence-based care for first responders experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma-related conditions, mental health concerns, and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) issues.

This unique service supports emergency service personnel, defence members, and other first responders through comprehensive inpatient treatment programs focused on trauma recovery, psychological wellbeing, resilience, and rehabilitation. As an ANUM, you will play a key leadership role in supporting a multidisciplinary team and delivering high-quality, person-centred care within a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment.

This role is available permanent part‑time (minimum 0.8 FTE), with flexibility and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Working in partnership with the Nurse Manager, the successful applicant will lead patient‑centred, evidence‑based care aligned with best practice and legislative standards. Shifts range between 7.5 and 9 hours, with regular responsibility for shift leadership.

The Position

• Supervises nursing practice of all nursing caregivers taking responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.
• Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.
• Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
• Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.
• Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Manager updates.
• Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.
• Routinely monitors the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations and report abnormalities as required to the required caregiver.
• Systematically evaluates and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions and report significant anomalies promptly.
• Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy.

You will have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and clinical experience with minimum of five (5) years post-graduate experience within an acute mental health speciality.

To succeed you will have to demonstrate practical experience and knowledge of research methodology and evidence based nursing practice and demonstrate ability to organise and motivate staff.

The Benefits

• Salary: $120,835 to $124,903 per annum (Pro rata basis for parttime), plus 12% superannuation
• Permanent Part-time role, working up to 56 hours a fortnight.
