We’re hiring a Graduate Accountant and are specifically looking for recent accounting graduates, or students in their final year. This role can be fulltime, or part time until completion of studies before moving into a fulltime capacity.

About the Role

Working closely with the finance team you will provide support to the Head of Finance and wider finance team by helping to prepare processing of invoices, payments, expenses and accounts in a timely manner.

Payments

  • Responsible for the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions
  • Manage and oversee the payments inbox to ensure all enquiries are actioned in a timely manner
  • Managing invoice workflow to ensure invoices are correctly coded and approved
  • Manage weekly payment run to ensure all invoices are paid on time
  • Processing and reconciling expense and credit card claims (SAP Concur)
  • Working with internal stakeholders to provide ad hoc reporting and analysis around costs and spending, helping to track annual budgets

General ledger and bank reconciliations

  • Process outgoing payments and reconciling to the general ledger
  • Following up on discrepancies and returned payments

Group financial control

Support the management and oversight of:

  • Collection of performance and management fees from the trust and LICs;
  • External auditor and taxation advisor relationship and services;
  • Balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Transactional banking;
  • Internal recharge documents and invoices.

Management reporting

  • Support monthly and quarterly management accounting process through regular updates of budgets/financial forecasts and other relevant information as required.
  • Report, analyse and provide insights to senior management on timely basis.

External reporting (statutory)

Assist with the financial accounting of a number of legal entities including trusts, LICs and private companies, for:

  • Year-end statutory accounts in accordance with Australian Accounting standards by the relevant deadlines;
  • General journal preparation; and
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, maintaining the fixed asset register and all appropriate supporting documentation regarding the financial results.

External reporting (tax, regulators and exchanges)

Responsible for the preparation for review of key deliverables including

  • Quarterly BAS returns; and
  • All enquiries and information requests as they arise.
  • Annual returns; and
  • Notices.

Other

  • Contribute to the working relationships of key service providers including external auditors, tax advisors, outsourced payroll provider, custodian, financial institutions, share registry and legal advisors; and
  • Lead and / or support to develop process improvement initiatives across the Finance Team and organisation.

Governance and risk

  • Implement finance policies and controls to effectively manage business risks across all entities.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.
