Assistant Accountant

The successful Assistant Accountant will be responsible for:

• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Performing bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting with month-end close activities and journal entries.
• Maintaining the general ledger and supporting financial reporting.
• Assisting with accruals, prepayments and account analysis.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes.
• Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Providing finance support to internal stakeholders and assisting with ad hoc projects as required.

The Successful Assistant Accountant Should Have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar finance role.
• Completing or recently completed a qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Intermediate Excel skills and exposure to ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
• Working towards a CA or CPA qualification will be highly regarded.
