The Head of Sales, Extremities and Trauma (E&T) Australia is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for driving the growth and performance of Arthrex’s E&T portfolio nationwide. The role leads a national team of Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) who are accountable for the performance and execution of Sales Representatives across Australia. The position is directly accountable for sales execution clinical selling excellence and delivery of budgeted E&T revenue outcomes.
This role requires a strong and visible leadership presence across the national organisation. Time in the field is expected and purposeful, focused on enabling execution through leaders, observing, coaching and developing RSMs, reinforcing consistent standards and ensuring accountability for results. This position ensures the commercial organisation has the capability, processes and leadership discipline required to deliver outstanding customer outcomes and portfolio performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership (Leader of Leaders) & Performance Accountability: lead, manage and develop a national team of RSMs to consistently deliver against budget expectations and strategic objectives.
- Commercial Strategy and Go-to-Market Leadership: build and drive the short, mid and long-term commercial strategy for the E&T portfolio in partnership with Commercial Leadership and Product Management/Marketing team.
- P&L Ownership, Budget Delivery & Commercial Governance: own, manage and deliver the P&L for E&T, including revenue, gross margin, operating expense alignment (where applicable) and budget performance.
- Operations Partnership and Kit Management: partner closely with Operations leadership to ensure effective governance and availability of E&T consignment and loan kits.
- CRM Discipline: ensure disciplined, consistent and accurate use of the CRM system across E&T sales organisation.
- Cross Functional Collaboration and Leadership Contribution: partner with Product Marketing, Marketing Communications, Medical Education and Operations to deliver effective campaigns, launches, and education programs aligned to strategy.
Experience and Education
- Proven experience leading Sales Managers and Sales Representatives in Extremities, Trauma or equivalent orthopaedic portfolios.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Health or a related discipline preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver against budget expectations over time (multi-year performance).
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams across multiple regions, hospital systems and stakeholder groups.
- P&L ownership capability, including budgeting, forecasting, investment planning, and performance governance.
- Strong strategic planning skills, able to translate market insights into short/mid/long-term commercial strategy.
- Proven ability to identify, retain and grow great talent, including evidence of leadership bench building and clear succession planning.
- Advanced capability in pipeline management, forecasting and performance tracking using CRM tools.
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to analyse performance data, identify trends and drive decisive action through leaders.
- Strong influencing and communication skills with credibility across surgeons, hospital stakeholders, Operations, Finance, and senior internal leaders.
- High resilience, professionalism and personal drive in a performance-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Australia and work extended hours as business needs require.
