About The Role

TasNetworks is seeking an experienced

Contract Manager to support the delivery of the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD) — one of Tasmania’s most significant infrastructure programs. In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all contract management activities, ensuring robust contract governance, aligned to project objectives.

Reporting to the Contract Director and working in conjunction with the project leadership and multidisciplinary teams, you will influence contractual outcomes at all levels, oversee complex contract administration, and help shape commercial strategy across a major state infrastructure project.

What You’ll Do

  • Influence the administration of complex contract agreements, ensuring full compliance with the head contract, regulatory requirements and project objectives.
  • Provide authoritative interpretation of contract terms, obligations, entitlements and risk allocation.
  • Oversee contractor performance from a contract perspective, including payment, change, risk and contingency management.
  • Drive high‑quality contractual communications that are accurate, consistent and aligned with commercial strategy.
  • Ensure the accurate valuation of all change and delay entitlements across the project.
  • Work with internal teams to consolidate contract, progress and change data for accurate reporting and decision‑making.
  • Participate in and support negotiations, evaluations and settlements relating to change, delay and contractual matters.
  • Support dispute resolution processes and contribute to commercial strategy development.
  • Mentor and uplift capability within the Contract Team.
  • Build strong, constructive relationships with the Principal’s Representative, contractor teams and project stakeholders.

About You

You are a commercially astute contract professional who thrives in complex project environments and enjoys influencing outcomes that protect organisational interests while enabling project delivery. You bring strong leadership capability, deep commercial judgement and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

You Will Bring

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Commerce, Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, AIQS) demonstrating strong governance and industry leadership.
  • Extensive contract management and commercial leadership experience (5 years +) on major infrastructure or construction projects ($500m+).
  • Proven capability negotiating high‑stakes commercial matters and resolving complex disputes.
  • Experience working within regulated utility environments or government‑owned entities (advantageous).
  • Strong stakeholder influence skills, with the ability to shape commercial positions and build trusted relationships.
  • Deep understanding of procurement frameworks, commercial risk, government contracting and regulatory expectations.
  • Advanced analytical capability with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing new processes, frameworks or teams in major project environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking and hands‑on commercial delivery capability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong governance mindset.
