Growing Together—an innovative community garden, nursery and micro-enterprise program that empowers young people aged 16–25 to build confidence, develop practical skills, and create pathways to employment.

The Salvation Army (Salvos) Youth Services encompasses a range of programs for vulnerable young people, their families, and the community. Our services have a strong focus on prevention and early intervention and enable access to safe accommodation options, Holistic case management, community outreach programs and programs that teach vital independent living skills. Our centres are safe and supportive environments creating an ideal environment for growth, where participants feel believed in, valued, listened to, and respected.

About The Role

Based at the Tom Quinn Centre in Bundaberg, you'll bring the garden to life by creating a welcoming, hands-on learning environment where young people can connect, learn and thrive. Working alongside community partners and volunteers, you'll help transform gardening, food production and enterprise into meaningful opportunities for personal growth.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Facilitate engaging garden, nursery and micro-enterprise activities.
• Teach practical skills in horticulture, food production and sustainability.
• Support young people to build confidence, independence and employment skills.
• Coordinate volunteers and foster strong community partnerships.
• Help manage produce for the café, markets and community initiatives.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and accurate program records.

What You Will Bring

You'll be passionate about working with young people and enjoy creating opportunities through hands-on learning.

To Be Successful, You'll Have

• Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Community Services or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in community programs, horticulture, food production, hospitality or social enterprise.
• Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills.
• A commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and person-centred practice.

Essential Requirements

• Current QLD Driver Licence.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Current First Aid Certificate.
