Registered Nurse - Rehab & Palliative Care

Your role at St John of God Frankston Hospital

We are seeking Registered Nurses to join Granada Ward, a specialised inpatient rehabilitation and palliative care unit where you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients recovering from illness, surgery and life-limiting conditions.

Our diverse caseload includes post-orthopaedic rehabilitation (hip, knee and shoulder replacements), neurological recovery following stroke, reconditioning after cardiac and respiratory illness, post-cancer treatment care, pain management, and end-of-life support.

Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will deliver holistic, patient-centred care in a rewarding and varied clinical environment.

Join a supportive team that values professional growth and excellence in care. These permanent positions offer predominantly morning and afternoon shifts across a 24-hour roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Ongoing education, training and support are provided to help you develop your clinical practice. Candidates with rehabilitation experience, FIM credentialling, wound care knowledge, and previous palliative care experience will be highly regarded.

The Position

• Accepts responsibility for direct patient care by ongoing nursing assessment of patient and by ensuring that nursing interventions and the associated patient responses are recorded in the patient notes.
• Ensures that a holistic approach is developed for patient education and discharge planning, and that the participation of both patient and family in their multi-disciplinary care is facilitated.
• Ensures that the patient has access to pastoral care, where possible, the minister of their choice, to provide personal visitation, spiritual ministration and counselling.
• Maintains a unit environment which facilitates patient comfort and safety and which facilitates staff awareness of hospital policy, work-cover legislation and occupational health and safety policies.
• Accepts accountability for storage and usage of Drugs of Addiction and medication by ensuring compliance with government regulations and Nurses’ Board Policy.

You will hold current AHPRA registration and have recent experience in rehabilitation and/or acute nursing. Experience in rehabilitation settings, FIM credentialling, wound management, and palliative care will be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care, and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments. Postgraduate qualifications in Rehabilitation Nursing will be highly regarded.

• Salary: $85,480 to $107,881 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
• Permanent part-time position available
