Credit Assessor - Mortgages

Non-Bank Lender | Australia

Our client, a rapidly- growing non-bank lender, is seeking an experienced Credit Assessor with mortgages experience and to help drive strong, consistent credit outcomes across the business.

This business has doubled in size in the last 18 months, and has a very stable credit team with less than 5% staff turnover in the last 4 years.

The Role

• Conduct credit assessment and approval within your delegated lending authority (DLA), escalating applications outside your limit to senior approvers
• Ensure all loan applications meet the business's credit criteria, risk appetite and policy requirements, including review of security and servicing
• Maintain high data quality standards, keeping loan details accurate and up to date
• Partner with Business Development Managers on deal scenarios and workshopping, keeping them informed of new information throughout the credit process
• Liaise with valuers, solicitors, brokers and financial advisors as required, and prepare letters of offer/variations
• Proactively identify and escalate credit risks to the Lending Manager, supporting low arrears and strong audit/hindsight review outcomes
• Support SLA-driven, customer-focused outcomes and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Provide input into process and systems improvements

About You

• Prior experience in credit assessment within mortgages (ideally from a non-bank or smaller bank)
• Have held a DLA of $1m +
• Strong understanding of Australian regulatory and compliance frameworks
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to risk and process improvement
