An established commercial construction business is seeking an experienced

Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a busy, collaborative environment where you'll play a key role in supporting month-end processes and financial reporting.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Daily bank reconciliations and resolving reconciling items
• Assisting with month-end close including accruals, prepayments and general ledger reconciliations
• Preparing balance sheet and overhead reconciliations
• Supporting BAS preparation and other statutory reporting
• Assisting with monthly management reporting and financial analysis
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requirements
• Assisting with forecasting and financial reporting
• Working closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure accurate coding and cost allocation
• Supporting the administration of bank guarantees, bonds and trust accounts
• Providing ad hoc reporting and analysis as required

About You

• Minimum 3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant position
• Previous experience within construction, engineering, property or another project-based industry is highly regarded
• Strong understanding of month-end accounting processes
• Experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
• Jobpac or equivalent software experience
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• CPA/CA studying or completed, or a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
