The role
Reporting to the Rolling Stock Manager this role plays a critical part in bridging the gap between daily operations and asset management engineering. Day to day you will manage & develop a team of Frontline Maintenance Technicians who perform pre-service inspections, dynamic testing, shunting and vehicle presentation checks. More broadly this role provides rigorous technical oversight, auditing and performance reporting of our rolling stock maintenance subcontractor. This will include being the point of contact to resolve asset variances, defect handbacks and technical discrepancies.
What you bring
In addition to your tertiary / trade-based qualifications (Mechanical, Electrical, or a Rolling Stock-related discipline) your background will include extensive leadership experience in transport, rail or heavy industry maintenance. You will require well developed planning and scheduling skills and be able to coordinate tasks in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment. Equally important is the ability to engage and build effective working relationships both internally and externally (contractors) with a focus on performance metrics.
